Haamid Bukhari / Batch 2009

Haamid Bukhari (Batch 2009) is a DPS Srinagar Alumni who is an Indian Civil Services officer (IAS allied Central Services) currently heading Srinagar office of Registrar of Companies, UT of J&K & UT of Ladakh.

After completing higher secondary education in Science Stream, Haamid graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awanitpora. Upon graduating, he joined Jawahar Lal University (JNU), New Delhi for Masters in Politics and International Relations.

In a turn of events, Haamid pivoted into the world Civil Services to fulfill his childhood dream. In his Post Graduation, he started preparing for All India Civil Services Examination. He firmly believed that if one wants to succeed in something; he/she must be mentally prepared for achieving it. This is a simple fundamental he applied, to keep himself motivated throughout his preparation for Civil Services.

He says, “I was not well-prepared however, I was committed to working hard. Patience and perseverance are a sine qua non for this exam. I believe that if one works hard and is dedicated, anything is possible to achieve.”

During his senior year of post graduation in 2016, he succeeded in his clearing Civil Services and became an IAS officer at the age of 24. He was allocated Central Service in Government of India and after completing 2 years training and probation; he was posted as Incharge of Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs for Kashmir office. During this period as part of training, Haamid completed his PG Diploma in Business and allied laws from National Law school of India University, Bangalore.

Recalling his fun-filled days at DPS Srinagar, Haamid says,”It does have an immense impact on my personal and career development. Our School has always put great focus on the behavioral, functional, and academic skills. I was privileged to have studied in Delhi Public School, Srinagar which widened my horizons and helped my understanding of strengths & weaknesses, and these have proven critical in career development.”

Haamid encourages students of today to explore and see more of the world while you are young. Be open and try new things—you’ll eventually find a good fit. His journey to his passion in Civil Services is a lighthouse of inspiration for alumni of the past, present and future.
